Timing, as you know, is THE squishiest thing that happens in a Tarot reading. Especially, a GENERAL reading. How can one know for hundreds of people?

My first answer to that is this: get a sense of the reading – do a lot of cards show movement or no movement at all? By movement, I mean ACTION. Are they wands (mostly active energy), swords (mostly super fast), Knights (except the Knight of Pentacles – there’s NO ACTION there, trust me) and The Chariot. If you’ve got a lot of fast energy in a reading, this is happening sooner than later.

My second answer is this: look at the fifth card. This is my deal with all of my Tarot decks – the fifth card is the timing card.

My third answer to this is: look at the outcome card – does it negate all the cards before it? Is the final/outcome card the opposite of the entire reading? All the cards in the reading moving fast and the final card is NO MOVEMENT? Like the 7 of Pentacles, the 4 of Swords (guy sleeping in a bed) or the STAR (wishful thinking or some unknown time in the future). OR…is the entire reading NO movement and the final card is the 8 of wands? The 6 of Swords? The TOWER? That means you’ve got a surprise headed your way – maybe a sudden action you didn’t
expect.
